This plein air oil painting was painted in my friend Anne's backyard. The bright purple rhododendron blossoms are contrasted with sun on the foliage behind and the cool depth of the first beyond.
About Polly Castor
I’ve painted my whole life, but my artwork really took off when I started painting ideas, instead of people, places, or things. I love to start with an abstract idea, and then conceptually represent it. The first idea I painted was “confidence,” followed by summing up the essence of “July.” After that, I was hooked. I feel energized when I paint in this fresh and thoughtful way, and the result is very creative, authentic, and engaging.
