About Polly Castor
Art to me is a process of spiritual discovery.
It is a connection with life and healing for the artist as well as the viewer. It is not only the outcome of prayer but prayer itself. Deeply contemplative, I portray the beauty of nature, both in the outer world and the inner experience. My goal is to evoke what underlies and encompasses all creation, in representational and abstract forms.
I have always been an artist and continue to work in many mediums: oil, pastel, watercolor, gouache, acrylic, collage, photography, pottery, poetry and even food. I thrive on how these cross-pollinate with one another. My meditative process is grounded in a profoundly active experience of spiritual communion with my Creator. I feel a visceral need to listen to and amplify the good around me. It is not about self or ego; I am simply impelled to share.
I am passionate about color and can never have too much of it. Enjoying the interplay and juxtaposition of hue, tone, texture and shape, I am fascinated how they contribute unity to the whole. Art resolves issues and raises new questions, which in turn, uncover fresh ideas to explore. Art is freeing, exciting, joy inducing, and percolating with inspiration. Art is a celebration that reveals what authentically resonates.
